Lance Corporal James Keegans

James Keegans, son of John and Florence Keegans, of Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, served in the Cheshire Regiment, and then volunteered for the airborne forces.

Lance Corporal Keegans attended the 4th Advanced Parachute Course at RAF Ringway from 3 to 7 February 1942. He was posted to C Company, the 3rd Battalion, the Parachute Regiment and took part in Operation Torch in North Africa.

L/Cpl Keegans was Killed in Action during an attack on Green Hill on 6 January 1943, aged 25. He is commemorated on the Medjez-El-Bab memorial.
