Private James H Hale

James Harold Hale was the son of James and Phoebe Hale, of Staffordshire. He enlisted in the South Staffordshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Hale successfully completed his glider training, and was posted to Support Company, 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment and took part in operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Pte Hale was killed in action on 19 September 1944, aged 25, and was buried in Rhenen General Cemetery, Utrecht, Netherlands.
