Private James Gould

James Gould was the husband of May Gould, of Sparkbrook, Birmingham. He enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Private Gould successfully completed his glider training and was posted to C Company, 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Pte Gould was killed in action on 26 September 1944, aged 31. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
