Lieutenant James F Rogerson

James Fraser Rogerson was the son of Arthur and Violet Rogerson, of Four Oaks, Sutton Coldfield, Warwickshire. 

He was granted a commission and volunteered for airborne forces. His brother, Pilot Officer Charles Fraser Rogerson, of 59 Squadron, RAF, was killed in action on 3 October 1941, aged 20, and is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.

Lieutenant Rogerson successfully completed his parachute training at RAF Kabrit, Egypt, and was posted to command the Medium Machine Gun Platoon, Support Company, 11th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment. He took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Lt Rogerson was killed in action on 24/25 September 1944, aged 21, and was given a field burial in the grounds of the Ter Horst family house, Benedendorpsweg, and was reinterred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 6 August 1945.
