Major James Dowling

Craftsman James Dowling completed All Arms P Company in September 1975 as a member of 1 Parachute Logistic Regimenton Course 809.

He was then posted to the 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, and served in F, G and I Batteries as a gun fitter. When 16 Parachute Brigade was disbanded on 31st March 1977, Craftsman Dowling went to Germany with 7 RHA.

After a spell with 29 Commando Regt RA as a Gun Fitter and then a Weapons Artificer, he was posted to Aldershot as the 5 Airborne Brigade’s Armourer and worked out of 10 (Airborne) Field Workshop REME.

Major Dowling finished his military career as OC of HQ Company, 11 Training Battalion REME.
