James Bernard Foster enlisted into the Parachute Regiment in 1979 in 15 PARA (SV) before joining full time in 1980.
Recruit Foster was part of 468 Platoon, P Company (P Coy) which started training in October 1980. He was awarded Champion Recruit when he paraded on 10 April 1981 in front of Lt Hibbet. He was amongst 42 recruits that passed out from the 111 that attempted P Coy.
Pte Foster went with 16 others to 1 PARA on 29 April 1981.
L/Cpl ‘Jim’ Foster served with 1 PARA until 1984.
