Private Jacques L Benoit

Jacques Lucien Benoit was the son of Dr. D A Benoit, M.D. and Eva Benoit, of Montreal, Canada. He enlisted in the Royal Regiment of Canada (The Black Watch) on 12 January 1938 and volunteered for airborne forces.

He was 5' 7", 150 Ibs, fair complexion, brown eyes, auburn hair, 20/20 vision.

Private Benoit successfully completed his parachute training and was posted to 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion on 4 February 1944 and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Pte Benoit was killed in action on 20 August 1944, aged 28, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
