Sergeant Ivor Blakeley

Sergeant Ivor Blakeley, husband of Helen J Blakeley, of Burnfoot, Roxburghshire, served as a Section Commander with the Medium Machine Platoon, Support Company, of 3rd Parachute Battalion. He took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.

Sergeant Blakeley died on 22 September 1944, aged 24 years old. He is now commemorated on the Memorial at Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery, near Nijmegen.
