Ian Hector Sinclair, son of Dr. G. H. Sinclair and Mrs E. A. Sinclair, was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant into The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders on 25 July 1942.
2nd Lt Sinclair attended parachute course 26 at RAF Ringway from 7 to 12 September 1942. He was then posted to 4 Platoon, S Company, 1st Battalion, the Parachute Regiment and took part in operation Torch in North Africa.
Lt Sinclair was Killed in Action on 8 March 1943, aged 22. He is commemorated on the Medjez-El-Bab memorial.
