Private Hugh Gordon

Hugh Gordon, was the son of Hugh and Florence E Gordon, of Belfast, Northern Ireland and stepson of Charles S Frost, of Belfast. He enlisted into The Royal Ulster Rifles, and then volunteered for the airborne forces.

Private Gordon attended parachute course 19 at Ringway from 20 July to 27 July 1942. He was then posted to the 1st Battalion, the Parachute Regiment and took part in Operation Torch in North Africa.

Pte Gordon was killed in action on 26 February 1943. He was originally buried in Bou Arada Military Cemetery and was re-interred on 14 July 1944 to Medjez-El-Bab.
