Sergeant Herbert HM Poulton

Herbert HM 'Bert' Poulton joined the Army 27 August 1939. He served with The 4th Monmouthshire Regiment before volunteering for the airborne forces. It is thought he was parachute jump trained at RAF Ringway on Course 13. Which ran between 6 and 21 May 1942.

He went on to join the 1st Parachute Battalion, T. Coy, 11 Pln.  He saw service in operations in N.Africa, Sicily, Italy and Arnhem. Herbert successfully managed to escape across the Rhine by boat, after the battle for Arnhem Bridge. 

Herbert was discharged from the Army 27 December 1945.
