Lance Sergeant Henry R Sharp

18 Sep 1944

Henry Robert Sharp, son of Charles and Constance Sharp, husband of Frances Sharp, of Leyton, Essex, he enlisted in The Queen’s Royal Regiment and then volunteered for airborne forces.

Lance Sergeant Sharp successfully completed his parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 21/22, and was posted to C Company, 8 Platoon 3rd Battalion Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

L/Sgt Sharp was killed in action on 18 September 1944, aged 29, and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
