Henry Gray Whittet was the son of George and Mary Whittet, of Angus, Scotland. He enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps and volunteered for Airborne forces.
Corporal Whittet successfully completed training and was posted to 2 Platoon, 250 (Airborne) Light Composite Company, Royal Army Service Corps, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Cpl Whittet was killed near Dreyenseweg between 18 and 25 September 1944, aged 35, and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
