Private Henry F Gibson

Henry Francis Gibson was the son of John Robert and Alice Gibson; husband of Lilian Edith Elizabeth Gibson, of Southend-on-Sea, Essex, he enlisted in the Essex Regiment and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Private Gibson successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway and was posted to 9th (Essex) Battalion, The Parachute Regiment and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Pte Gibson was killed in action on 17 June 1944, aged 31, and was given a field burial in Le Mesnil and was re-interred to Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France, on 26 June 1945.
