Lance Corporal Henry C Davies

Henry Clifford Davies, son of Thomas Percy and Caroline Davies; husband of Amy Davies, of Aughton, Ormskirk, Lancashire, enlisted into the Royal Army Service Corps and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Lance Corporal Davies successfully completed his glider training and was posted to 250 (Airborne) Light Composite Company, RASC, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

L/Cpl Davies was killed in action on 22 September 1944, aged 29, and was given a field burial in a group of graves 100 yards west of Hartstein Hotel. He was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 10 September 1945.
