Lieutenant Haydn W Phillips

Haydn Walter Phillips was the son of Walter G Phillips and Lilian M Phillips, of Maesycwmmer, Hengoed, Glamorgan.

He was granted an emergency commission in the Royal Artillery on 28 December 1940 after completing training at an Officer Cadet Training Unit.

Lt Phillips later volunteered for airborne forces and is believed to have qualified as a military parachutist in 1943.   He subsequently served with the 4th Parachute Battalion in Italy and Greece.   Lt Phillips died on 27 October 1944, aged 24 years, and is now buried in Phaleron Cemetery, Greece.
