Private Haydn E McKay

Haydn Evan McKay was the son of Thomas and Louisa McKay, of Swansea. He enlisted in the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles), and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Private McKay successfully completed glider training and was posted to C Company, 7th (Airborne) Battalion, King’s Own Scottish Borderers, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Pte McKay was killed in action on 23 September 1944, age 26, and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
