Sergeant Harry Sharp

Harry Sharp was the son of Walter and Harriet Sharp, of Saltaire, Shipley, Yorkshire. He enlisted in the Northamptonshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Sergeant Sharp successfully completed his glider pilot training and was posted to E Squadron, 11 Flight, 2nd Wing, The Glider Pilot Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Sgt Sharp was killed in action on 23 September 1944, aged 21, and was given a field burial beside the Sonnerberg Hotel, and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 21 August 1945.
