Corporal Harry A Green

16 Jun 1944

Harry Alfred Green was the son of Harry and May Green, of Northampton; husband of Phyllis Ruth Green, of Northampton, he enlisted in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps and volunteered for airborne forces. Harry’s younger brother, Cpl William Green (7 December 1919 – 7 October 2007) also served.

Corporal Green successfully completed his parachute training and was attached to 13th (2/4th Battalion, The South Lancashire Regiment) Bn., The Parachute Regt., and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Cpl Green was killed in action on 16 June 1944, aged 27, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
