Trooper Harold S J Cresswell

Harold Stanley Janersen Cresswell, son of William and Rosa Creswell, of Chiswick, Middlesex, enlisted into The Royal Artillery, transferred to the Royal Tank Regiment and volunteered for Airborne Forces.

Trooper Cresswell successfully completed Glider training and was posted to 6th (Airborne) Armoured Regiment. He took part in the 6th Airborne response to the German counter-offensive in the Ardennes, during Winter 1944-5.

Trp Cresswell died of wounds on 10 January 1945, aged 26, and was buried in Ciney Temporary Burial Ground (Belgium). He was later reinterred in Hotton War Cemetery on 21 May 1947.
