Corporal Harold Rowbotham

Harold Rowbotham was the son of George and Mary Rowbotham, and husband of Joan Rowbotham, of Hipperholme, Yorkshire.

Lance Corporal Rowbotham volunteered for The Parachute Regiment and attended Parachute Training course number 65 at RAF Ringway between 17 and 28 May 1943. His course report stated 'reached a very high standard. Quietly keen and very able.'

Corporal Rowbotham served with the 3rd Parachute Squadron, Royal Engineers, and took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy on 5-6 June 1944.

Cpl Rowbotham died on 29 July 1944, aged 27 years old.
