Staff Sergeant Harold A P Tarrant

Harold Alfred Percy was the son of Harold and Lilian Tarrant, of Addlestone, Surrey and the husband of Mary Tarrant. He enlisted in the Royal Corps of Signals and volunteered for airborne forces.

Staff Sergeant Tarrant successfully completed his glider pilot training and was posted to F Squadron, 2nd Wing, The Glider Pilot Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

S/Sgt Tarrant is known to have died on 19 September 1944, aged 27, and was given a field burial 30 yards west of the Schoonoord Hotel, Oosterbeek, and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 14 November 1945.
