Private Harold G Young

Harold George Young was the son of Charles Edward and Florence Young; husband of Margaret Young, of Hengoed, Glamorgan, he enlisted in the Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Young successfully completed glider training and was posted to 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Pte Young was killed in action on 13 June 1944, aged 30, and was given a field burial at Breville and was re-interred to Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France, on 2 July 1945.
