Guardsman H Cardwell served with the Irish Guards. He began his service in 1960, and spent a year before transferring to No 1 Guards Independent Parachute Company.
In five years with Guards Parachute Company he took part in several overseas deployments to Greece (1962), Cyprus (1963), Borneo (1964) and finally Kenya (1966), before leaving the Coy.
He remains active in the veterans community, as a member of Guards Parachute Association.
