Commissioned into the Parachute Regiment in 1981, serving with 2 PARA as a platoon commander in the Falklands, Belize and Northern Ireland. Later serving with 1 PARA as a company commander.
Chief of Staff in Sarajevo, Bosnia in 1996 completing one and a half years and being awarded a QCVS.
Additional tours of the Balkans include Kosovo and FYROM.
Other operational deployments have included Afghanistan and Iraq.
In 2002 served at SHAPE and worked on the High Readiness Div HQ Assessments Team.
In 2005 served for 2 years at McDill AFB in Tampa, Florida and was awarded the US MSM.
More recently served in the MOD in the commitments area.
In 2010 completed a further tour of Afghanistan before being posted to the US Maneuver Centre in Fort Benning as the British Liaison Officer.
