Private Gordon A Comeau

Gordon Augustus Comeau was the son of Dennis P and Margaret Comeau, of King’s County, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was one of 13 children and enlisted in the No. 6 District Depot  Canadian Army and volunteered for airborne forces.

He was 5' 9", 137 Ibs, medium complexion, brown eyes, medium brown hair, 20/20 vision.

Private Comeau successfully completed his parachute training at Fort Benning, Georgia, USA. He was posted to 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion, Royal Canadian Infantry Corps, and arrived in the UK on 28 July 1943 and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Pte Comeau was killed in action on 10 June 1944, aged 21, and was given a field burial at Le Mesnil Orchard, France. He was re-interred to Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France on 26 June 1945.
