Gordon Charles Connaghan was the son of Maddy and Elizabeth Connaghan, of Toronto, Ontarion, Canada; husband of Gertrude Mildred Connaghan, of Toronto, Ontario Canada. He enlisted in the 2nd District Depot, Canadian Army and volunteered for airborne forces.

He was 5' 10", 163 Ibs, medium complexion, brown eyes, brown hair, 20/20 vision. He arrived in the UK on 28 August 1943.

Private Connaghan successfully completed his parachute training and was posted to B Company, 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion, Royal Canadian Infantry Corps, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Pte Connaghan was killed in action on 6 June 1944, aged 26, and was given a field burial at Douville, France. He was re-interred to Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France on 5 September 1945.
