Private Glynn Jones

Glynn Jones was the son of John and Beatrice Jones; husband of Hannah Jones, of Cerney Moss, Denbighshire, he enlisted into the Royal Welch Fusiliers and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Jones successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 113, from 24 April to 7 May 1944. His course report stated “Average, good stick man”. He was posted to A Company, 9th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Pte Jones was killed in action on 19 August 1944, aged 21, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
