Major Gerry Crossland

Gerry Crossland enlisted into the Army in 1962 and completed P Coy, Course 606, with 63 Coy RASC (later redesignated as 63 Parachute Squadron RCT).

He qualified as a military parachutist at RAF Abingdon in November 1964 and was posted to HQ 16 Para Bde in January 1965. He completed a tour at the Army Air Transport Development Centre (AATDC), 1969-71, returning to Bde HQ until Nov 1973.

He left the Brigade for a tour in Nigeria with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and moved from there to HQ 44 Para Bde in May 1976 until its disbandment in March 1978.  

Gerry progressed to  the rank of Warrant Officer Class I before receiving a commission into the Royal Army Ordnance Corps as a Lt in 1984, and eventually retired from the the Royal Logisitics Corps in 2000.
