George William Harris enlisted into The Army Physical Training Corps and later volunteered for airborne forces.
He qualified as a military parachutist on Course 103, which ran at RAF Ringway from 14 to 28 February 1944 and served as a Sergeant Instructor attached to the 3rd Parachute Battalion.
