Private George V Jesson

George Victor Jesson was the son of Albert Edward and Louisa Elizabeth Jesson, of Atherstone, Warwickshire, he enlisted in The General Service Corps, and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Jesson successfully completed glider training and was posted to 12th (Airborne) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment, and took part in operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Pte Jesson was killed in action on 2 April 1945, age 19, and was given a field burial at Lengerich, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany on 28 April 1947.
