Trooper George A Rayment

30 Mar 1945

George Alfred Rayment was the son of Samuel Henry and Mrs Rayment; husband of Katherine Barbara Rayment of Holloway, London, he enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Trooper Rayment successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway and was posted to 6th (Airborne) Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment, Royal Armoured Corps and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Trp Rayment was killed in action on 30 March 1945, age 29, and was given a field burial at Billerbeck, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany, on 14 May 1947.
