Gunner George R Dix

13 Apr 1921 - 06 Jun 1944

George Richard Dix was the son of George and Clara (Gardner) Dix, of Gloucester, he enlisted in the Royal Artillery and volunteered for airborne forces.

Gunner Dix successfully completed glider training and was posted to 2 Airlanding Light Anti-Aircraft Battery, Royal Artillery and took part in Operation Overlord (‘D’ day landings).

Gnr Dix was killed in action on 6 June 1944, aged 23, and is commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial to the missing.
