Corporal George McCayna served with the 1st (Airborne) Battalion, The Royal Ulster Rifles and took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy on 5-6 June 1944.
Cpl McCayna died on 7 June, aged 24 years old. He is now buried at Bayeux War Cemetery, Normandy.
