Lance Corporal George Marshall

George Marshall was the son of George William and Ada Marshall, of Moor Ends, Doncaster, Yorkshire, he enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Lance Corporal Marshall successfully completed glider training and was posted to Royal Army Medical Corps, attached to 12th (Airborne) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment, and took part in The Battle of the Bulge (Ardennes).

L/Cpl Marshall was killed in action on 7 January 1945, aged 21, and was given a field burial at Bure Temporary Burial Ground and was re-interred to Hotton War Cemetery, Luxembourg, Belgium, on 21 May 1947.
