Staff Sergeant George E Phillpott

George Edward Phillpott was born and lived in South East London. He enlisted and volunteered for Airborne Forces.

Staff Sergeant Phillpott successfully completed glider pilot training and was posted to 1st Wing, The Glider Pilot Regiment, Army Air Corps, and took part in Operation Overlord (D Day landings).

Staff Sgt Phillpott was killed in action on 6 June 1944, aged 28, and is commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial to the missing.
