Gunner George E Perks

George Edward Perks was the son of William and Amelia Fanny Perks; husband of Maud Perks, of Hartshill, Stoke-on-Trent, he enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Gunner Perks successfully completed parachute and also glider training at RAF Ringway and was posted to 3 Airlanding Anti-Tank Battery, Royal Artillery, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Gnr Perks was killed in action on 16 June 1944, age 34, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
