Lance Corporal Geoffrey Stainthorp, son of Sydney Herbert and Sarah Ann Stainthorp, of Ripon, Yorkshire, served with 2nd Parachute Squadron, Royal Engineers. He took part in the Italian campaign.
He died on 12 December 1943, aged 21 years old. He is now buried at Sangro River War Cemetery, Italy.
