Private Geoffrey M Richardson

Geoffrey Malcolm Richardson was the son of William and Dorothy Richardson, of Chiswick, Middlesex. He enlisted in the Middlesex Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Richardson successfully completed his glider training and was posted to B Company, 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Pte Richardson was killed in action on 21 September 1944, aged 24, and was given a field burial on the Hemelse Berg estate, Oosterbeek. He was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 28 August 1945.
