Geoffrey Edward Nelson enlisted in November 1935 into The Royal Artillery.
Sergeant Nelson volunteered for airborne forces and became a Glider Pilot in the 1st Wing, Glider Pilot Regiment.
He took part in the invasion of Sicily, during Op Husky and was Killed in Action on 9 July 1943 in Sicily, aged 25 years old. Sgt Nelson has no known grave and is commemorated on panel 12 of the Cassino Memorial, at the Cassino War Cemetery, Italy.
