Geoffrey Emar Dawson Reading was the son of Harry and Amy (Haynes) Reading, of Banbury, Oxfordshire, he enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.
Rifleman Reading successfully completed glider training and was posted to 1st (Airborne) Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles, and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).
Rfn Reading was killed in action on 4 April 1945, age 19, and was given a field burial at Greven, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany, on 23 May 1947.
