Sergeant Frederick G Loosemore

14 Feb 1913 - 24 Mar 1945

Frederick George Loosemore was the son of George Ernest and Georgina (Heard) Loosemore, of Torrington, Devon; husband of Ivy Frances (Sampson) Loosemore. They were married in 1936. Frederick enlisted in the Devonshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Sergeant Loosemore successfully completed glider training and was posted to the 12th (Airborne) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment, and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Sgt Loosemore was killed in action on 24 March 1945, aged 32. He was given a field burial at Hamminkeln, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery on 24 April 1947.
