Private Fred Binns

23 Aug 1944

Private Fred Binns, foster-son of Florence Butler, of Whitefield, Lancashire, volunteered for The Parachute Regiment and attended parachute training course number 105 at RAF Ringway, between 1 and 14 March 1944. 

Private Binns served with 13th (South Lancs) Parachute Battalion. He took part in the Normandy campaign.

Private Binns died on 23 August 1944, aged 22 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
