Signalman Frank C Bond

Frank Christopher Bond was the son of Herbert William and Bessie Bond, of Norwich, Norfolk. He enlisted into The Rifle Brigade and volunteered for airborne forces.

Signalman Bond successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway, on course number 89 from 28 October to 9 November 1943. His course report stated “Tried hard, achieved moderate standard”. He was posted to 3 Parachute Brigade, 6th Airborne Divisional Signals, Royal Corps of Signals, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Sigmn Bond was killed in action on 19 August 1944, aged 21, and was buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
