Private Francis Vickers

Francis Vickers, the son of Frank and Elizabeth Sarah Alice Vickers, of Shoreditch, London.

He successfully completed his parachute training at Ringway on 4 October 1946. It was noted that Vickers “sets a good, cool example” as a parachutist.

Private Vickers was posted to the Reserve Battalion in Aldershot before being transferred to 2nd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, to serve in Palestine.

He died on 1 August 1947 and is now buried in Khayat Beach War Cemetery, Israel.
