Evard Williams was born in Merthyr Tydfil and lived in Portsmouth. He enlisted in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.
Lance Corporal Williams successfully completed his glider training, and was posted to B Company, 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
L/Cpl Williams was killed in action on 19 September 1944, aged 22 and was given a field burial in the Arnhem Communal Roman Catholic Cemetery. He was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 27 August 1945.
