Private Ernest W Jarrett

05 Aug 1916 - 24 Mar 1945

Ernest William Jarrett was the son of Percy Garfield and Eveline Naomi (Dorsett) Jarrett, of north London; husband of Annie (Sieryok) Jarrett. He enlisted in the Royal Berkshire Regiment and volunteered for Airborne Forces.

Private Jarrett successfully completed glider training and was posted to 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry, and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Pte Jarrett was killed in action on 24 March 1945, aged 29, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery on 18 April 1947.
