Lance Corporal Ernest E Scott

Ernest Edward Scott was the son of John and Sarah Scott, of Edgware, Middlesex. He enlisted in the York and Lancaster Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Lance Corporal Scott successfully completed his glider training and was posted to C Company, 7th (Airborne) Battalion, King’s Own Scottish Borderers, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

L/Cpl Scott was killed in action between 23 and 24 September 1944, aged 24, and was given a field burial near the junction of Oranjeweg and Bothaweg, Oosterbeek. He was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 28 August 1945.
