Corporal Eric White

Eric White was the husband of Betty Rose (Weeks) White, of Torquay, Devon. They married in January 1942 at Newton Abbot, Devon. Eric enlisted in the Devonshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Corporal White successfully completed glider training and was posted to 12th (Airborne) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Cpl White was killed in action on 24 March 1945, aged 32, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany on 24 April 1947.
