Private Eric A Miles

Eric Arthur Miles was the son of Arthur H and Annie Miles, of Whittlesford, Cambridgeshire, he enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Miles successfully completed glider training and was posted to the 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, Ox and Bucks Light Infantry and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Pte Miles was killed in action on 24 March 1945, aged 20, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln, Germany and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany, on 24 March 1947.
